Jim Hamilton's love of music began as a boy listening to Radio Luxembourg.
From being given
his first guitar aged 11, he demonstrated his musical ability by playing solo at venues in and around his home town of Stranraer
from the tender age of 15 and quickly built up a huge following from locals.
Then, with school pal Adrian Duncan,
the pair gained national notoriety by appearing on Hughie Green's "Opportunity Knocks" in the 1970s which was
followed by a contract with EMI Records.
Their first single was released in 1976: "Rock n' Roll Marionette"
on the A-side and "I Never Knew" on the B-side.
Jim also recorded several songs solo including "My
Country".
Jim now plays solo with live music nights at his hotel, The Royal, in Stranraer and other local
venues. He plays as a duo with son Richard, also a musician, audio engineer and DJ.
They play weddings and
parties. Click here for booking information.
